The short answer

With 1 in 500K odds and no boosts, a secret would take about 500,000 eggs on average. Pity changes that: you only have a 3.0% chance of hatching a secret before your first pity at 15,000 eggs, so for most players pity is how they get their secret. The catch is the 50/50 — if you want the secret from this exact egg, expect about 28,706 eggs, and there is no hard cap.

How the calculator works

• Every egg is its own roll. Hatching 8 at once doesn't change the odds per egg; it gets you to pity faster.
• Lucky rolls each hatch twice and keeps the rarest; Super Luck rolls three times (it replaces Lucky). So a 1 in 500K chance becomes roughly 1 in 250K or 1 in 167K.
• Secret Hunter makes secrets 30% easier — we multiply the chance by 1.3.
• Luck % from potions and boosts is multiplied into the chance too. This is our assumption — the game doesn't explain exactly how luck stacks.
• Pity: After 15,000 hatches without a secret, your next hatch is a secret — but it is a 50/50: half the time it is this egg's secret, half the time a random secret from an earlier island's egg. The counter is shown in the corner of the screen. If you get the wrong secret, we assume the counter starts again from zero.

Odds are different for each egg and each secret. Open the egg in game to see its exact odds and type them in. If the developers confirm different pity rules, change them in the calculator — the maths still works.

What we know about secret pets

• Update 1 (Oct 17) added 3 Halloween secrets that can be hatched from any island egg. Their odds have not been published.
• During a Blood Moon, Halloween secrets are 2.5× more likely.
• The Volcano island's new eggs have new secrets, two of them animated.
• Traders list variants with much rarer odds: a Golden secret is about 6× rarer than the normal one (1 in 500K → 1 in 3M) and a Shiny is 50× rarer (1 in 500K → 1 in 25M).
• Secrets with 1-in-500K odds are announced only in your server; 1-in-1M and rarer are announced to every server.
• Secret pets have their own hatch cutscene, which you can rewatch in the Pet Index.
• Secret pets with percentage-based boosts were rebalanced on Oct 12 to include base tap power, and leaderboards now count them.
• Auto-delete asks for confirmation before deleting a secret pet.
• A secret only shows up on the egg's odds list after you have hatched every normal pet in that egg (fan wikis).
